Process of Change
The process of change describe how people change physical activity behaviour. Process of change can be grouped into two categories: cognitive and behavioural.
Cognitive Processes In general, people not meeting the NPAG require mostly cognitive processes & some behavioural processes. These people may focus on cognitive strategies such as increasing awareness & knowledge of the benefits of physical activity. Behavioural Processes People who regularly meet the NPAG typically use mostly behavioural processes and some cognitive processes. The focus for these people might include behavioural strategies such as developing a reminder system & using rewards for being physically active. |

Counselling
An effective method for the promotion of physical activity is counselling which can be
provided by a personal trainer, GP, osteopath, physiotherapist, psychologist or PE teacher. The advice can be delivered via:
